Presidential Inspirations

In the spirit of President’s Day, I thought it would be fun to get inspiration from each of our 45 U.S. Presidents.

So, I scoured the Internet to find encouraging insights from each of our country’s top leaders. The ones I chose are not specific to the time in history when these men were in office, but are rather timeless wisdom.

I shared all 45 on my “Better Than Perfect” column on Psychology Today.

Here are some of my favorites:

Thomas Jefferson

“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”

James Buchanan

“The test of leadership is not to put greatness into humanity, but to elicit it, for the greatness is already there.”

Abraham Lincoln

“I don’t like that man. I must get to know him better.”

Theodore Roosevelt

“If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn’t sit for a month.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower

“Pessimism never won any battle.”

Which quote will you apply in your life today?
