Can Social Media Detoxes Help With Creativity?

We hear a lot about detoxes these days – to help you lose weight, have more energy, think more clearly.

There is another type of detox you might want to try that does not require drinking some scary looking green drink: A detox from social media.

There is nothing wrong with social media, per se. However, the way many people use it can be harmful.

For example, research shows that the longer people spend on Facebook, the more likely they are to become depressed.

When you are constantly checking your smartphone, you are not being present to the people around you, which can hinder important relationships.

This is a form of multi-tasking, which we know from past studies can reduce productivity.

And the stress of social media can impede your creativity.

Is a social media detox right for you?

Amy Capetta interviewed me for an article on Yahoo! on the subject of social media detox. You can read it here.
